Plant Information

Growing anywhere from 12 to 18 inches until they reach their maximum peak of 35 feet, Spruce Spruce have reddish brown trunks and are cousins to other ornamental conifers like cedars, firs, and pine. Thriving in cold, wet climates like North America, Canada and found all the way from the Pacific to Atlantic coast, Spruce oil is derived from the needlelike blue-green leaves and twigs of the tree. Some other oil-bearing spruce species include Hemlock or Eastern spruce (Tsuga canadensis), Norway or common spruce (Picea abies) and the White Spruce (Picea glauca). Take a whiff and it may help promote healing from muscles aches, sprains and strains. With its ability to calm and ease anxiety and stress, spruce oil is also a favorite in meditation as it is said to be grounding.
