Plant Information

Traditionally, Marjoram was used in tea to cure headaches, head colds, calm nervous disorders, and to clear sinuses. Commonly uses as that green herb in tomato sauce or in tea, Oregano, Origanum vulgare is made up mostly of carvacrol and contain a variety of antioxidant compounds, such as rosmarinic acid. Thymol, which is also in peppermint, is known to relax the soft tissue of the throat and stomach making Origanum vulgare a common digestion aid taken with a meal as it is carminative and stomachic. This great oil hinders bacteria replication and has antibacterial properties that may ward off infection so may be inexpensive source of natural antibacterial substances that exhibited potential for use in pathogenic systems. The oil of Oreganum is also vulgare is antibacterial, and has been used to reducing microb rate and prolonging the shelf life of food.

Usages

Use as a digestive, add to food and as carminative, may relieve flatulence.

Use mixed with a carrier oil as an antiseptic on cuts, bruises and wounds.

Marjoram is bactericidal so add a few drops to home cleaning agents.
