Plant Information
Originally from Asia and now cultivated in the USA, Brazil and Israel, Grapefruit, a large, yellow, pale fruit, grows on a glossy-leaved tree that grows about 30 ft high and has white flowers. Grapefruit oil has been love at first sniff for many, is a favorite amongst aromatherapists and has become a very popular essential oil due to its invigorating, sweet/tangy aroma. This uplifting and positive mood enhancing smell is not too strong or overpowering and is a great oil for the diffuser. It is used to clear up oily skin and clear acne, stimulate the digestive system, and even boost the lymphatic system. Aiding in immune support and issues with obesity, this essential oil protects against colds and flu, diuretic properties and helps to remove excess water from the body which makes it great for treating cellulite. Grapefruits chemical constituent is the uplifting d-limonene, a commonly used ingredient in hand cleansers because it has the ability to dissolve oils.
Usages
Add to a diffuser to get you moving or just take a good whiff. Add a few drops to a smoothie to enhance flavor and give your mind and body boost. Grapefruit supports a healthy metabolism and works great when simply added to water for aiding in weight loss support.
For body care, add a few drops to a carrier oil and rub on stomach. Grapefruit can be added to scrubs, body washes, and massage oils for positive vibes and promote feeling of vitality and mood upliftment helping increase focus and mental clarity.
Safety
Always test for skin sensitivity prior to widespread use and use on the feet when possible. Excessive use of any oil can lead to skin sensitization. If skin irritation does occur, wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly. Keep out of eyes, ears, or nose. Experts do not recommend using essential oil if you have a terminal illness, cancer, epilepsy or a number of other conditions. Not all oils are created equal, so test brands carefully, and never use an oil in a way not recommended. Our oil is therapeutic grade, however we do not recommend any oils be used internally unless on the advice of a medical professional.
