This wide spreading conifer is what makes up the flavor of gin. Juniper was the symbol of Ashera, the Canaanites fertility goddess and was once used to ward off evil or remove demons by the Tibetans. Juniperberry’s purple, blue, violet, or blackish-brown fruits are harvested in early autumn and not only work as an astringent they are also anti-inflammatory and anti-infectious, to name a few great benefits. Known to work on wounds to protect from septic or tetanus, Juniperberry relaxes muscles due to its antispasmodic properties which has shown to help relieve cramps swelling due to improper circulation or a build up of toxins. With a pungent, woody, sappy, grounding aroma, Juniper disinfects air and has a property that works as a detoxifier or blood purifier, a depurative, “one which purifies”, as it rids the body of toxins and heavy metals.
For skin, kidney stones, inflammation, urinary tract infections, rheumatism, gout, evn used for enlargement of the prostate gland, dandruff, you name it, Juniperberry is a great oil to have on hand.
