Plant Information

Found in the rainforests of Indonesia, Polynesia, Phillippines and other Asian and South Pacific Islands, Ylang Ylang is a beautiful tree standing about 20m high with white flowers that emit the most candy-like, magical, feminine, sweet scent into the air. Known as an aphrodisiac, this volumptuous aroma is used as the sensual note in the most famous perfumes like Chanel No. 5, Dior Diorissimo, Hermès 24 Faubourg, Maison Francis Kurkdjian APOM Pour Femme, this essence is found in up to 40% of the most popular perfumes in the world. This rich, exotic, intense aroma does not come cheap, as it takes about 400 kilos of flowers to produce only one kilo of essential. Worth it in every way, Ylang ylang oil has many healing properties and is known to help those suffering with insomnia as it relaxes the mind, body, soul. This sweet scent is also said to inspire, help improve self worth and promote a real sense of peace and joy. Traditionally, Ylang Ylang is used to treat malaria, stomach ailments, asthma, gout, and rheumatism as well as aiding in healing sadness and depression. It is said to be a great essential oil for the sacral and solar Plexus chakras for bringing balance and harmony to life.

Usages

Add a few drops to a diffuser or simply breath in the essense to induce inspiration or a sense of peace and calm or to promote sleep. Take a deeply relaxing and euphoric bath with just a few drops in your water.

Mix 4-5 drops in a carrier oil and massage onto skin. Add two to three drops to your regular shampoo or coconut oil, massage onto your hair and scalp, let sit for 20 minutes and rinse with water and mild shampoo. With amazing antimicrobial properties, Ylang Ylang helps reduce skin irritation and redness. 

Safety

Always test for skin sensitivity prior to widespread use and use on the feet when possible. Excessive use of any oil can lead to skin sensitization. Keep out of eyes, ears, or nose. Not all oils are created equal, so test brands carefully, and never use an oil in a way not recommended.
